Dinner and family funat Ingersoll Theater

Kris Fettkether

What do family, fun and farm yards have in common? This July and August it’s the Ingersoll Dinner Theater. The Ingersoll will be presenting Charlotte’s Web Thursdays and Saturdays now through August 5, with the exception of July 27. A children’s style meal will be served and free ice cream sundaes will go to members of the Fox TV Kids’ Club.

The theme of this children’s tale is one of friendship, companionship and loyalty. The setting is a barnyard in which Wilbur the pig finds a friend in the wise and sensitive spider, Charlotte. Also befriending Wilbur is Templeton, a gluttonous rat who brings mischief to the farmyard and the young girl Fern who shares a special bond with her pet.

And how is the production going so far? “Awesome! The actors are great!” director Erik Hastings said. He describes the experience of working with younger actors (five of the cast members are under 18) in his directorial debut at the Ingersoll as worthwhile. “As a director, it’s a good thing. I’m very pleased. I’ve directed shows at other places, but this one is going to stand out. There is a lot of charisma between the actors.”

Hastings also classified the performance as a true family show: “It’s a kid’s show for all ages.”

Tickets are $7.95 for all performances. Ticket price includes the meal. Doors open at 11 a.m. for meals followed by the show at noon. For those interested in reservations call the Ingersoll Dinner Theater box office at 274-4686.

“If you want to treat your child to a good story with good morals,” Hastings said, “this is the show you definitely want to see.”
