An Ames man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and failure to maintain control after his car rear-ended another in the intersection of East 13th Street and Stafford Avenue, Monday, according to police reports.

Ronald H. Wright, 49, 613 East 16th St., was arrested after his car rear-ended the car of Jeffrey E. Brown, 203 1/2 East 13th St., at 8:17 p.m. while Brown was stopped waiting for oncoming traffic before turning into his driveway, police said.

Police reported $3,000 damage to each of the vehicles. According to the reports, Brown complained of minor neck pain, but did he did not request an ambulance.

Wright was cited and later released.

Neither Wright nor Brown were available for comment at press time Wednesday.
