Immunization worth the cost
June 26, 1995
President Clinton’s Vaccines for Children program has been subjected to a barrage of complaints from some Republicans who claim that the program’s management is “bizarrely managed” and “poorly conceived.”
It would only be wise to assume that the health of the nation is a concern for all. But sadly that is not the case.
The argument over whether a program that vaccinates our nation’s children and ensures their safety should exist is like debating the issue of clean air.
In an age where advanced technology is growing, not only in knowledge but expense as well, a cost of a simple vaccination is by far more appealing than racking up enormous hospital bills battling diseases that could have been prevented.
If the Republicans succeed in terminating the program, they would only be playing a game of “what if” by endangering the children of America, the future of our nation.
