Iowa State knew it needed to bounce back strong after a tough loss to in-state rival Iowa on Thursday.

The Cyclones did just that against Southern on Sunday, beating the Jaguars 101-65.

Aside from the first four minutes, Iowa State controlled all day.

The Cyclones led 46-29 at halftime, thanks to 72 percent shooting (18-of-25) in the first half. Sophomore guard Terrence Lewis led Iowa State with 12 points off the bench (4-of-5 shooting). Freshmen Talen Horton-Tucker and Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In the second half, redshirt senior guard Marial Shayok took over.

After scoring just six points in the first half on 2-of-4 shooting, Shayok dropped 18 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half. He ended with 26 total points as the Cyclones extended their lead.

Haliburton recorded his first career double-double, totaling 15 points and 17 assists. His 17 assists broke the school record (16) set by Eric Heft.

The Cyclones are now 8-2 on the year.
