Iowa State to the NCAA Tournament?

For most of the season, Iowa State has flirted with the last place spots in the Big 12, but with the final win over Texas Tech, Iowa State is third in the Big 12 rankings behind Texas and Baylor.

On Nov. 18, the RPI had Iowa State ranked No. 74 in the nation. At the time, Iowa State was 14-13. With two sweeps, Iowa State is sure to jump in the rankings.

With that being said, Iowa State will have to make a significant jump as the lowest RPI team to make the tournament with an at-large bid in the last five years was 54.

Texas Tech was ranked 64 in the RPI while the other opponent Iowa State swept, Kansas, was ranked 36.

In the tournament selection process, 32 teams will have earned automatic bids by winning conference tournaments or championships which leaves 32 more at-large bids.

The full tournament bracket is to be announced this Sunday at 8 p.m.
