Tim Gannon, Democratic candidate for secretary of agriculture won his election Tuesday against Republican candidate Mike Naig and Libertarian candidate Rick Stewart.

Gannon won with (%) against his candidates. Gannon is Iowa’s first Democratic Secretary of Agriculture since 2007.

The key issues he discussed during his campaign was on improving Iowa’s farm economy, investments in research and conservation efforts and the decrease of trade barriers.

Originally from Mingo, Iowa, Gannon grew up on a small farm, which he said taught him the importance of agriculture.
