Iowa State beats Southwest Baptist 90-51 in exhibition

In the first quarter, Iowa State held a 16-14 lead over the Bearcats.

Iowa State shot 31.6 percent from the field in the first while Southwest Baptist shot 33.3 percent from the field.

In the second quarter, Iowa State boosted their shooting from the field to 55.6 percent to take a 41-35 lead. Southwest Baptist’s shooting percentage jumped up to 50 percent in the second.

Iowa State was able to generate nine second chance points in the first half by grabbing 10 offensive rebounds.

At the end of the first half, Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton lead all scorers with 12 points and Ines Nezerwa was second with 10 points.

From the free throw line, Iowa State was 6-9 at the half.

The following quarter the Iowa State lead grew to 24 points with a score of 68-44.

During the quarter, Iowa State hit three three-pointers at a 37.8 percent clip. The first half saw Iowa State hit three 3-pointers at a 25 percent clip.

The next and final quarter Southwest Baptist added seven total points to push their final score to 51 while Iowa State finished the game with 90.

Carleton finished the game with 17 points, five rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals.

Iowa State’s next best scorer on the game was Kristin Scott, who finished with 16. In addition, Scott had 10 rebounds including five offensive and two blocks.

Iowa State’s next exhibition game will be against Winona State on Sunday.
