Housing Fair to showcase apartment options
To provide an opportunity for students to connect with property managers, rental properties, internet providers and other amenities around the Ames area, Iowa State will host a housing fair.
The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.
There will be 25 participating vendors showcasing a variety of living options and amenities around Ames. These vendors include BlockONE, Campustown and Stadium View Suites.
The Dean of Students Ambassadors will be in attendance for the first time on behalf of the Good Neighbor Program. This program works on interacting with students who live off campus and informing them about what it means to be a good neighbor and community partner.
During the housing fair, students will have the opportunity to compare rental prices, ask questions and win free prizes.
“If [students] have any questions about a contract or lease, it would be beneficial to bring that information in [and] to either discuss with the property manager, or we will have staff at a booth available from Student Legal Services,” said Megan Moore, marketing specialist for the Memorial Union.
Students are encouraged to bring their student ID to swipe, along with any prior questions they may have about housing options.
“We want students to be informed about making a big decision like signing a lease or housing contract, so this is a great way for them to feel empowered that they have explored their options and feel confident making their next move,” Moore said.
Ames community members are also invited to participate in the Housing Fair.
“We know [community members] can benefit just as much as students who are looking to explore their options, and many of our vendors have properties or amenities that serve the entire city of Ames, not just campus town areas,” Moore said.
Additional information and a full list of vendors can be found on the Student Engagement website.
