Iowa State sweeps No. 22 Kansas on the road

On the road versus No. 22 Kansas, Iowa State pulled off the upset in three straight sets.

The win marks Iowa State’s third straight and pushes the team to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in conference.

On the attack, the Cyclones were led by Jess Schaben with 11 kills and .357 hitting percentage.

Eleanor Holthaus added seven kills with a .400 hitting percentage, and setter Piper Mauck had five kills, which was tied for third most on Iowa State, and a .444 hitting percentage.

Mauck also had 28 assists on the day.

Over the course of the game, Iowa State had 10 total blocks over three sets and were led by Candelaria Herrera, who had five block assists and a solo block.

In the first set, Iowa State won 25-16 behind a .333 hitting percentage. Kansas hit -.067 as a team and had 10 attack errors, and Iowa State recorded four blocks versus the Jayhawks.

During the second set, the Cyclones took the set 25-23. Iowa State added four more blocks, as the Jayhawks had a .088 hitting percentage. Kansas had three blocks as Iowa State had a .176 hitting percentage.

In the third and final set, Iowa State closed the match with a score of 25-16 behind five aces. Iowa State had a .267 hitting percentage and Kansas had a .207 hitting percentage in the final set.
