Main Street is home to many unique local businesses, and supporting them is a priority for the Ames Chamber of Commerce.

In order to get rid of extra inventory after the holidays, many businesses will have sales for Ames Dollar Days, held Thursday through Sunday. On Saturday, free parking will be available.

“I can’t tell you how long we’ve been doing it, but it’s been for many, many years,” said Crystal Davis, Ames Main Street and Campustown programming executive director. “It’s really just to help our businesses.”

Every store in Downtown Ames is welcome to join and set their own discounts. Davis recommends that shoppers start Thursday and Friday night, as the shops will be open later than they are Saturday and Sunday.

“This is a good way for stores to move some merchandise, and [the event] kind of gives people reasons to come back Downtown,” Davis said.

We the Dreamerz
Winter clothing will be up to 75% off at this boutique.
