The Iowa State wrestling team will have a new spot to call home for practices in 2025 when a new $20 million 36,000-square-foot facility opens up.
The announcement came Thursday at the annual fundraising dinner of the Cyclone Regional Training Center, along with an inside look at the potential layout of the facility. For all of this to happen, Iowa State is set to purchase and add on to the Iowa Attack building next to the Sukup Basketball Center.
Based on a video from IA Wrestle shared by Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard on X, formerly known as Twitter, the facility looks to include six mats surrounded by a track, multiple recovery rooms, a weight room and a lounge area.
The $20 million will be covered by Pollard, as well as multiple donors including naming rights donors.
Head wrestling coach Kevin Dresser, who is entering his seventh season with the Cyclones, expressed his excitement for the new facility on X.
“This is going to be such a tremendous place to train! And the history of the program will be displayed throughout the entire wrestling center also! 36,000 sft of just ISU Wrestling!” Dresser posted Sunday.
