The YWCA is accepting nominations and scholarship applications for the YWCA Ames 2024 Women of Achievement Awards Ceremony.
Applications are due Nov. 30, and awards will be given to around 10 women in Story County who have demonstrated qualities of outstanding leadership and excellence in their professional and personal endeavors in accordance with the mission of YWCA Ames-ISU.
According to Angela Merrick, YWCA executive director, the scholarship application is specifically for female students at Iowa State, but anyone from Story County can be nominated for an award.
Merrick said the YWCA Ames-ISU has been in Ames since 1890 and is the oldest women’s organization in Story County.
“It’s a great way to get involved with the YWCA and help us work towards our mission,” Merrick said.
The 2024 Women of Achievement Awards Ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. March 28 at Reiman Gardens.
The YWCA of Ames’ website states that nominees must reside or work in Story County and have a nomination and letter of reference submitted before Nov. 30, 2023.
YWCA Ames-ISU Selection Committee will consider nominations from individuals, corporations, non-profit agencies, public/private agencies and departments.
