If you are sick of traditional dates with your significant other, like movies, dinner and mini golfing, join the Ames community Friday for the Date Night with University Museums. The date night event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m at the Brunnier Art Museum in the Scheman Building. Despite the date night name of the event, attendees are encouraged to either come as a group, bring a friend or come by themself.
Date Night with University Museums will offer you a free craft and the ability to walk around and admire the gorgeous art during the fun after-hours event and a scavenger hunt. Guests will also be awarded coupons to the Iowa State Bookstore with a chance to win a mystery prize from the Bookstore. The event has also partnered with the Workspace at the Memorial Union and will gift the first 25 attendees a free take-home art kit.
Some of the exhibitions currently showcased at the museum are pieces by Elizabeth Catlett, the permanent collection’s tiniest objects and ceramics from Rookwood pottery.
This type of event is not the first of its kind. Discover Ames has hosted a couple of these events before, all hosted at different locations, such as the Christian Petersen Art Museum and the Farm House Museum.
As soon as you finish your romantic outing at the Brunnier Art Museum, you could head to downtown Ames and continue your evening with a romantic dinner. Many restaurants around Ames offer the low lighting and romantic atmosphere you would want on a date night after the museum.
