Iowa State women’s basketball guard Shantavia Dawkins announced that she will enter the transfer portal Wednesday after two seasons at Iowa State.
The announcement from Dawkins came via a post on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
“First and foremost I want to express my appreciation to Iowa State for the last two years. It’s been an incredible journey playing for and representing an incredible program,” Dawkins wrote on X. “After careful consideration and discussions with loved ones, I’ve decided to explore new opportunities by entering the transfer portal.”
In her two years as a Cyclone, Dawkins played in 22 games and averaged 5.2 minutes per game. She averaged 0.8 points and 0.5 rebounds during her time at Iowa State.
Dawkins was the only freshman on the 2022-23 roster, where she played in 12 games. Her biggest performance at Iowa State came against SIU Edwardsville in her freshman season, where she scored six points and played 10 minutes.
The most minutes Dawkins played in a game was 16 against St. Thomas in her sophomore season. She scored two points and had a career-high four assists.
Dawkins is the first player for Iowa State to enter the transfer portal following the 2023-24 season. The 5-foot-7 Ontario, Canada, native will look to continue her college basketball career elsewhere.
