The Cyclones played three games against Kansas, where they fell short in all three over the weekend. The Cyclones are now 3-4 while playing at home at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
The competition between the Cyclones and the Jayhawks started Friday where Kansas took the win, 7-1. The game was tied 1-1 until Kansas got a grand slam to take the lead and move the momentum to its side.
Saturday’s doubleheader started out rough for the Cyclones as they had five errors during the first game and three during the second.
Kansas had the advantage right away; however, it did not stop the Cyclones from getting a few hits. Angelina Allen had a couple hits for the game as well as Tiana Poole picking one up.
Though Iowa State got a few hits, Kansas’ offense was the star of the whole weekend. Kansas’ Campbell Bagshaw had a few hits along with two RBIs. The final score for the first game of the doubleheader ended with Kansas taking the win, 11-0.
The second game was the closest it had been all weekend between Kansas and Iowa State. The Cyclones had a few errors once again, along with various hits from different players.
Sophomore pitcher Jaiden Ralston pitched for the Cyclones in five and two-third innings and did not allow any runs from the Jayhawks while in the circle.
Iowa State stayed close to Kansas, but fell short once again due to the amount of errors. The Cyclones fell to Kansas again 6-2.
Iowa State will continue its season at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Ames against DePaul.
