Cyclone hockey finishes home-and-home stand with a 4-1 win

Cyclone Hockey hit the road on Saturday to finish out their home-and-home series against Waldorf University in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The Cyclones picked up a 4-1 victory over the Warriors.

Senior forward Tony Uglem put the Cyclones on the board first, capitalizing on a power play, putting the Cyclones up 1-0 in the first period.

Sophomore forward Dylan Goggin followed up the Uglem goal with a goal of his own, putting the Cyclones up 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

The second period was quiet on the offensive side, with no goals scored. The Cyclones were stuck skating 3-on-5 with 7:42 left in the second period. Iowa State was able to hold off the Warriors, keeping their 2-0 lead.

Uglem started the third period by capitalizing on another power play and scoring to give the Cyclones a 3-0 lead, scoring his second of the game.

Waldorf would capitalize on a power play of its own late in the third, bringing the score to 3-1.

Uglem would score his third goal with 1:23 left, completing the hat trick, giving the Cyclones their 4-1 lead.

The Cyclones will return home on Friday to play their first of two home games against Illinois State University at 7:30 p.m. at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
