It was announced on Monday that Iowa State’s libero, redshirt junior Hali Hillegas, has won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, her seventh time awarded.

Earlier in the week against No. 17 Northern Iowa on the road, Hillegas had 21 digs as Iowa State powered past the Panthers in three straight sets.

In her next game against Gonzaga, Hillegas had 31 digs, the best mark in the Big 12 this season.

Hillegas has had six 30-dig performances and two this season, with the other being against Oregon State.

In Hillegas’ other games this week, she had 13 digs in a sweep of Montana and 12 digs in a straight-set loss to No. 22 Utah.

Hillegas is pacing her way to more postseason honors after being named Big 12 Libero of the Year and an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American in 2017.
