Iowa State redshirt freshman kicker Kyle Konrardy has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, following his heroic performance in the Cyclones 20-19 win against Iowa on Saturday.
The Dubuque, Iowa, native played perhaps the biggest role in Iowa State’s comeback win against the Hawkeyes on Saturday. He converted two huge field goals after missing his first-ever collegiate field goal at the end of the second quarter.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Konrardy had never attempted a field goal at the collegiate level.
Konrardy’s final stat line from Saturday’s game was two-for-three from field goal range with two extra points converted. Both field goals would be made from 46 and 54 yards, respectively.
