The Society for the Advancement of Gender Equality handed out free condoms on Welch Avenue on Tuesday.

The intersectional feminist organization meets every Tuesday from 8 to 9 p.m. with one of their goals is to promote safe sex. During their meeting time this week, however, they headed toward Welch Avenue and handed out free condoms to anyone who may have needed them.

“[We do it because of] safe sex. Everybody should be having safe sex,” said Taylor Hintch, co-president of SAGE.

The organization gets their condoms from Planned Parenthood. Danika Nolte, the other co-president of SAGE, said they’re, “advocates for Planned Parenthood and they support their mission.”

SAGE also hands out information packets, lube and female condoms too.

Other than promoting safe sex, SAGE tackles issues regarding gender, sexuality, mental health, human trafficking and reproductive health.

The condom crawl on Tuesday night was the first of the semester. The organization plans to keep hosting the walks until they run out of condoms.

Next Tuesday SAGE will be on Welch Avenue at 8 p.m. to complete another condom crawl.

The organization also puts on the Vagina Monologues in the spring, which is a play aimed toward rising, resisting or uniting to stop violence against women and girls.
