Iowa beats Iowa State, 3-1

In four sets, Iowa was able to take down Iowa State 3-1. During the game, Iowa State was plagued by errors.
The last time Iowa State lost to Iowa in volleyball was 2015 when the Hawkeyes won 3-1.
Before the match, Iowa State announced that middle blockers Meegan Hart and Avery Rhodes were both out with injury, which left senior Grace Lazard as the only true middle blocker left on the roster.
The Cyclones then decided to play senior outside hitter Candelaria Herrera at the middle blocker position.
Iowa took the first set 25-20 behind Taylor Louis‘ five kills and .444 hitting percentage.
Early in the set, Iowa State was ahead, but numerous errors kept the score close before Iowa paced theirselves to the set win.
On the set, the Cyclones had four serving errors and two receiving errors.
Iowa State finished the set with the same amount of kills as Iowa, who had 12, and Iowa State had a higher hitting percentage of .219 compared to Iowa’s .188.
In the second set, Iowa jumped out to a quick lead before an Iowa State timeout and subsequent run by the Cyclones to close the gap.
Iowa State finished the set with 11 kills and a .116 hitting percentage, but added three more service errors to put the game total to seven.
In addition, Iowa State added 3.5 team blocks, and Iowa had 15 kills on a .190 hitting percentage.
Louis added four more kills in the second set, but her hitting percentage slightly dipped from .444 to .368.
In the end, Iowa was able to take the second set 25-21.
With the chance of being swept, Iowa State was able to take the third set from the Hawkeyes 25-23.
Iowa State had 12 kills and a .154 hitting percentage while Iowa had 11 kills and a .125 hitting percentage.
The Cyclones also added five more blocks during the set to push their total to 9.5 after the third set.
The errors continued for Iowa State in that set as well, with three more serve errors and two more receiving errors.
Iowa took the fourth set 25-20.
Iowa had 15 kills and a .244 hitting percentage while Iowa State only recorded two more blocks.
Louis and teammate Cali Hoye ended the game with 15 blocks each for the game high.
Jess Schaben led Iowa State with 14.
Iowa State had 15 kills and a .244 hitting percentage.
Overall, Iowa State finished with 13 service errors and six receiving errors.
Schaben, Piper Mauck, Izzy Enna and Jenna Brandt all had two service errors and Hali Hillegas had three.
