Northeast section of Marshall Avenue and Lincoln Way intersection
The northeast section of the Marshall Avenue and Lincoln Way intersection closed Monday for pavement removal and replacement.
This is anticipated to take two weeks, weather permitting, followed by two weeks of work on the median in the center turn lanes, according to the city of Ames.
Access to businesses on the north side of Lincoln Way between Marshall Avenue and Franklin Avenue will be reopened, but the sidewalk in this area will be closed during this time. However, the sidewalk on the south side will remain open. Additionally, truck access will not be permitted on the north side of Marshall Avenue during construction.
This project is part of a reconstruction effort by the city to rebuild Lincoln Way from Beedle Drive to Franklin Avenue.
Eastbound lanes on Airport Road
Both eastbound lanes on Airport Road from South Riverside Drive to the east side of University Boulevard closed Monday for pavement removal.
Vehicles have been shifted to the westbound lanes with a single-lane of traffic heading in each direction. The work is anticipated to take three weeks to complete.
All access to businesses on Airport Road will remain open, along with the shared-use path.
“Motorists should be aware of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time,” according to a city news release. ”As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through the construction area.”
