The Iowa State women’s basketball team has high expectations for the 2024-25 season. Before it all begins, get to know where some of the players like to go and what they like to do.
What is your favorite place to go in Ames?
Audi Crooks: “I like Ada Hayden [Heritage Park]. I like to go to the lake and fish with my teammates or just chill.”
Sydney Harris: “I like that pizza place, Great Plains. We also went to the farmer’s market, that was cool.”
Kelsey Joens: “My favorite place to eat here is probably El Azteca. My favorite place to go is the gym. Just like our practice gym.”
Lily Hansford: “I really like Texas Roadhouse, we went there for my birthday. We go to El Azteca a lot too. I go to Chick-fil-A a lot, not all places have that so close, so it’s nice that we do.”
Arianna Jackson: “We go to [El Azteca] a lot. I also like getting ice cream from Hickory Park. We’ve been to Ada Hayden a few times to hang out, fish and walk around. That’s always a good time.”
If you were stranded on an island and could bring one thing, what would it be?
Crooks: “My guitar. Wait, actually, my Bible.”
Addy Brown: “That’s a good question. I’m gonna bring a helicopter and get out of there. Not gonna lie, I don’t think I could work a helicopter, but I could try.”
Emily Ryan: “It sounds bad, but I’d bring my phone and get some help.”
Joens: “A phone wouldn’t do you much. Probably matches. That way, you could build a fire and stay warm.”
Hansford: “Shoot. I don’t know. I mean, matches make sense, so I’ll go with that too.”
Reagan Wilson: “I would bring some sort of weapon. A knife of some kind. For food, but then you’re screwed shelter-wise, but then you could cut down stuff to build your shelter. Okay, definitely a knife. We’re surviving.”
Kenzie Hare: “I feel like a knife. Because then you could make things. You can fish with a knife and carve stuff. Emily [Ryan] and I are watching Survivor right now, so I’m trying to get into my Survivor era.”
If you were playing a different sport what would it be?
Ryan: “I would definitely be playing tennis. I love tennis.”
Joens: “I really enjoyed softball growing up, so probably that.”
Hansford: “Tennis or softball.”
Jackson: “For me, it would definitely be track.”
Hare: “Mine would be lacrosse.”
What hobbies do you have?
Crooks: “I like to play instruments. I like to sing. I started DJing, so I’m in that process right now. I just like to learn a lot of different things.”
Harris: “I like to draw. I’ve been trying to get into coloring because I can draw and then I can’t execute the coloring. That or play my PlayStation. ”
Wilson: “Anything outdoors, I love being outside. I love going to concerts, we went to the Iowa Speedway for Eric Church. It was so fun.”
