During the Cyclones’ loss against Houston on Oct. 9, sophomore outside hitter Nayeli Gonzalez suffered a knee injury in the first set that took her out for the rest of the match.
According to an X post from the Cyclone Volleyball account Wednesday, Gonzalez will be out for the rest of the season.
Gonzalez has been one of Iowa State’s biggest offensive threats to start the year with 127 kills at 2.95 per set. She also added 48 digs and 18 blocks.
Last season, Gonzalez was All-Big 12 First Team, the first Cyclone ever to achieve that honor as a freshman. She was also named Big 12 Rookie of the Year and was a part of the AVCA First Team All-Midwest Region, AVCA Regional Freshman of the Year and AVCA All-Region First Team.
Gonzalez is set to have surgery next week.
