Breece Hall
The New York Jets are in a slump right now. They have lost their last four games, including Sunday night’s 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Hall has put together two very good performances in a row.
After racking up 169 yards in last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Hall followed it up with 141 yards against the Steelers.
Unlike last week, the majority of Hall’s production came through the air instead of on the ground. He caught six passes for 103 yards and ran for just 38 yards on 12 carries.
His biggest play came on a 57-yard reception where he made multiple Steelers miss tackles, getting the ball all the way down to the Pittsburgh three-yard line, leading to an eventual touchdown.
Hall’s strong performance over the past couple of weeks has skyrocketed him into seventh in yards from scrimmage in the NFL with 655 and into the top spot in receiving yards among running backs with 307.
Allen Lazard
Lazard had a very typical game for himself in the Jets’ loss Sunday night.
The sixth-year receiver hauled in four passes for 58 yards. All four of Lazard’s receptions resulted in first downs for the Jets.
Despite being held out of the endzone in this game, Lazard still sits tied for third place with five receiving touchdowns on the season.
The signing of Davante Adams didn’t seem to have an impact on Lazard’s opportunities in the first game since the signing, but that will be something to continue to look out for.
Will McDonald IV
Despite the loss, McDonald continued to add to his sack total, as he was able to get to Russell Wilson for one sack in this game.
The second-year pass rusher continued his breakout season Sunday night, bringing his sack total to eight in just seven games, while also recording three tackles and a tackle for loss.
McDonald sits alone in second place in the NFL in sacks, trailing by just one to the New York Giants’ defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II.
McDonald has already more than doubled his production from the entirety of his rookie season, as he only recorded three sacks in 2023.
Despite the solid performances from the New York Cyclones, they have fallen to 2-5 and are starting to run out of time to turn things around.
David Montgomery
Montgomery had a solid day in the Detroit Lions’ 31-29 win over the Minnesota Vikings, which put the Lions into the No. 1 spot in the NFC.
He ran the ball nine times for 31 yards and caught three passes for 39 yards, bringing his total yardage for the game to 70.
Montgomery only touched the ball 12 times in this game in large part due to him leaving the game late in the first quarter with a knee injury, but he did return and finish the game.
Montgomery’s franchise record streak of eight consecutive games with a rushing touchdown may have come to an end in this game, but he’d probably trade that for a win to move into first place in the division and the conference any day.
Brock Purdy
Sunday was not a great day for Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers.
Purdy went 17-31 for 212 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions. His quarterback rating of 36.7 was the worst of his entire career.
He did not look comfortable at all in Sunday’s 28-18 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. Purdy made some very uncharacteristically bad decisions, including throwing two interceptions in the red zone, that were ultimately the difference in the game.
However, Purdy’s day was not all doom and gloom, as he was able to rush for two touchdowns, the only two touchdowns the 49ers put up Sunday.
The worst part of this loss was that it was against the Chiefs in a Super Bowl LVIII rematch. Just like in the Super Bowl, Purdy and the 49ers failed to knock off the Chiefs and dropped to a shocking 3-4 on the season.
Xavier Hutchinson
Hutchinson recorded one catch for 11 yards in the Houston Texans 24-22 loss Sunday to the Green Bay Packers.
Hutchinson has four catches for 45 yards on the season.
Charlie Kolar
Kolar hauled in one pass for 14 yards in the Baltimore Ravens’ 41-31 win Monday over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kolar has six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown on the season.
