The winter season is approaching and the end of the semester is near. This time of year is full of finals and projects that can be stressful and overwhelming for everyone. To combat this stressful time, Iowa State has put together a series of events called WinterFest. WinterFest will take place Friday with multiple events planned to celebrate everything the student body has accomplished and to help relieve stress for the upcoming finals week.
The Holiday Art Mart will be held at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Union Art Gallery. Stop by the open house anytime until 9 p.m. to view the wonderful art on display. Following the Art Mart, the President’s Open House will be at 3 p.m. at Knoll Hall and the Jingle & Mingle Holiday Market will be at the same time at Beardshear Hall. Other events, including chair massages, bowling and billiards, Yeti paintings, Stuff-a-plush and a gingerbread house competition will take place all around campus at 4 p.m. At 5 p.m., there will be cookie decorating, airbrush tattoos and the 18th annual Andy Albright Jingle Jog.
The Jingle Jog is a 3K run that takes place every year to raise funds for the Andy Albright Scholarship. Registration includes a hat and accessories as well as the chance to participate in the run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on December 6. Register here today to secure your spot.
The fun will continue with karaoke, horse-drawn carriage rides, bingo, a tree lighting ceremony and even complimentary chili, corn bread and hot chocolate at 6 p.m. (while supplies last). Check out the full schedule here and make sure to mark your calendars in order to experience all the fun. The day will finish off with ice skating at the ISU ice arena from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
There is an activity for everyone to experience at WinterFest this year. Grab your friends and enjoy an afternoon of fun on campus before the busy-ness of finals season picks up.
