As the spring semester begins and students head back to their classes, there are some dates students need to know.
In-person coursework officially began Wednesday after classes were forced online due to frigid temperatures Tuesday. Students looking to add, drop or swap a class need to do so before the deadline Monday. It is also the deadline to drop a class without a drop (W) appearing on your permanent record.
The last day to add or drop a first half-semester class without “extenuating circumstances” is Feb. 21. For second half-semester classes, the deadline is April 25.
After the deadlines, only students with extenuating circumstances will be allowed to drop classes, which may include family emergencies or medical absences.
Interim grades, also known as midterm grades, must be submitted by March 14. Grades are required to be posted by an instructor if the student has a C- or lower or nonattendance. According to the registrar’s office, students who receive interim grades of a C- or below are encouraged to discuss their academic performance with the course instructor and their advisor.
First half-semester classes end March 14, the Friday before spring break. Spring break follows from March 17 to 21, where classes are recessed.
The registration period for the 2025 fall semester will open on March 25. Students will be able to view registration appointments with their advisor on Workday. For the full list of registration dates, see the graphic above.
Prep week officially begins May 5, with final exams between May 12 and 15. You can find the schedule for final exams on the registrar’s website, but students should verify with their instructor. Final grades for the spring semester should be submitted by instructors by May 20.
