Watch list season continues forward as the regular season approaches.

Redshirt senior quarterback Kyle Kempt was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list on Tuesday morning, Kempt’s second watch list of the preseason. 

Kempt was previously named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list. 

The Golden Arm is named after legendary quarterback Johnny Unitas and given to the best quarterback in the country following each season. However, a quarterback must at least be a senior or redshirt junior in order to qualify for the award.

The Cyclones were 5-3 when Kempt started last season.

This is the ninth time this preseason an Iowa State player has been named to a preseason watch list.
