The Iowa State sports family lost a passionate member Sunday morning.
Hazel Houge, 101, had been a strong Cyclone supporter for over 80 years, according to her great-niece, Kristen Lowman.
Men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm and former point guard Monte Morris visited Houge in the hospital recently when she fell ill.
Props to @CoachProhm and @MonteMorris11. Upon hearing #Cyclones superfan and season ticket-holder Hazel Hogue was in the hospital, Steve and Monte paid her a surprise visit.

Morris provided a statement to the Daily via text message:
“She gave me hope and inspiration, she made me believe that anything is possible & how blessed I am to appreciate everything given. Much love for her, she will be in my heart forever.”
Iowa State women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly also shared a statement about Houge’s passing:
“Our basketball family was saddened to hear about the passing of Hazel Houge. Hazel was an amazing woman filled with passion and grace. She was one of our biggest fans and I know she will be watching over us.”
