Hyper Energy Bar officially announced they are planning to open a new location in Ames before the end of the year. The new location is a cafe-style coffee bar specializing in handcrafted coffee, energy drinks, smoothies and more.
Hyper Energy Bar, under the Heart of America hospitality group, was first opened in Waukee in 2021. The business continued to expand throughout the Des Moines metro with five other locations in Altoona, Ankeny, Grimes, Urbandale and West Des Moines.
With the success of the chain and many requests by fans, they have even recently expanded outside of the Des Moines metro into Iowa City.
The CEO and Co-Founder of Hyper Energy Bar, Chris Whalen, shared that the company’s goal is to open the Ames location during the summer, preferably in July, so that the business can be ready to go for students once the fall semester starts up.
“We are excited to bring Hyper Energy to Ames in time for the fall,” Whalen stated.
The Hyper Energy Bar Instagram page shared that the Ames location will be located on 2320 Lincoln Way, as well as another location opening in Norwalk. Whalen has also shared that this Ames location will be unique from all the other locations due to the larger size of the property. It will be a “cafe-style” bar, where customers can order and sit down inside of the bar, instead of the previous drive-through styles in Des Moines, and the pick-up style in Iowa City.
Whalen believes that the Ames location will be “the perfect spot for students to meet up, hang out and get hyped.”
Hyper Energy Bar’s menu consists of “hyper-infused” energy drinks, specialty coffees, smoothies and snacks. They have a large variety of flavors for their energy drinks and coffee, but they also have strawberry, strawberry banana, mango and peach smoothies and sell a few different kinds of muffin tops, cake pops and protein bars.
Hyper Energy Bar also offers a seasonal menu, which currently features the “Golden Hour,” “White Cap,” “Wave Runner” and “Riptide” energy drinks, as well as the “Salty Breeze” and “Beach Front” coffee flavors.
The menu also includes the option for caffeine-free drinks and sugar-free syrup substitutes.
Merchandise is also available through their website, featuring hats, candles, crewnecks, hoodies and even a 40 oz. tumbler.
