After a brief break from transfer portal news, Iowa State made some more roster changes for next season, as one player decided to hit the portal while another committed to the Cyclones for their first acquisition of the offseason.
Nojus Indrusaitis
With four players entering the portal on Monday, it looked like all the players who were currently on the Iowa State roster were set for next season.
But for freshman guard Nojus Indrusaitis, that wasn’t the case, as he decided to enter his name into the transfer portal Thursday.
The former four-star recruit didn’t see much playing time with the Cyclones this past season, as he only appeared in 15 games.
In those 15 games at an average of 5.8 minutes, Indrusaitis averaged 2.1 points on a 33.3% field goal shooting clip, 14.3% from 3-point range and 52.9% from the free throw line. He also averaged 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists.
Indrusaitis’ season-high in minutes and points came in Iowa State’s season opener at home against Mississippi Valley State, where he had eight points in 16 minutes played off the bench.
The former 2022 FIBA U16 European Championship gold medal winner with the Lithuanian National Team will look to continue his collegiate career elsewhere, as he could not find success in his lone season with the Cyclones.
Eric Mulder
After having five players transfer out of Ames, Iowa State now has its first commit of the offseason with junior forward Eric Mulder out of Purdue Fort Wayne.
In his three seasons as a Mastodon, Mulder provided a solid presence with his 6-foot 8-inch frame, as he averaged 5.7 points on a 71.4% field goal shooting percentage at an average of 19 minutes played.
This past season, however, will come off as Mulder’s best, as he was fifth on Purdue Fort Wayne in points (8.4), on a team-high 76.3% shooting clip from the field. While he doesn’t shoot the ball a ton, Mulder is effective in the shots he does take, leading to the high percentage.
Mulder’s career-high in points came during the 2023-24 season when he scored 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 from the charity stripe. He added 10 rebounds in the Mastodon’s 91-56 win over Detroit Mercy.
Along with his shooting abilities, Mulder led Purdue Fort Wayne in rebounding at an average of 6.7 boards in his final season with the team. He also averaged 0.7 blocks per game.
Mulder’s commitment to the Cyclones meant that he would return to his home state of Iowa for the first time in his collegiate career, as he is a native of Oskaloosa.
He’ll look to provide key minutes at the next level for Iowa State with his consistent shooting and rebounding abilities.
