Another Cyclone will miss Saturday’s game against South Dakota State due to a suspension.

Iowa State football announced in a press release Friday morning that senior safety De’Monte Ruth, who was projected to play the starting role at the ‘star’ position on defense, was suspended for one game due to a traffic stop and arrest for driving with a suspended license. The stop and arrest occurred Thursday evening, according to an Iowa State spokesperson.

Head coach Matt Campbell said in the press release that, “De’Monte was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested for driving with a suspended license early Thursday evening. We have a higher standard of excellence in our program and we ask our players to put the team before their actions.”

With Ruth out, the likely starter for Saturday’s game is redshirt freshman Richard Bowens III, who moved up the depth chart during the offseason.
