July 9, 2018
Reproductive care is an important sector of health, but people often have trouble knowing where to go for what services. Planned Parenthood is one accessible resource for patients to help take care of their reproductive health care needs. The Ames center provides the following services.
Abortion Services
The Ames Center provides abortion medication, pre- and post-abortion education, post-abortion follow-up exams and referrals for other abortion services per request.
To access the abortion pill, patients must make an appointment. Patients will receive the pill no later than nine weeks after your last menstrual period. A second appointment will be made one to two weeks after the pill consumption.
Patients under 18 years old should refer to the parent consent forms on Planned Parenthood’s website. Insurance may cover the service costs so it is important to bring insurance information along with other identification documents.

Birth control services are available for walk-ins or by appointment during their business hours. The birth control methods they offer include a birth control implant, birth control patch, birth control pill, birth control shot, NuvaRing, diaphragm, condom, female condom, fertility awareness method, hormonal IUD, copper IUD and spermicide.
If patients are prescribed a birth control pill, they may be shipped to their home each month. Insurance could cover these services so proof of insurance should be brought to appointments.
