GET: Iowa State offers mobile ordering service
March 28, 2018
From Lance and Ellie’s to Hawthorn, GET provides students the ability to order from anywhere at anytime.
Iowa State is home to many different service for students to use, ranging from help with papers, health and even food to eat. GET, an app created by Webfood, falls into the latter of those giving students the ability to order their favorite foods.
GET has been accessible to Iowa State students since 2015, originally under the name Seaboard. Kristi Patel, assistant director for Retail Operations, explained GET is provided across the country with many different colleges and even hospitals.
GET was not always what Iowa State used however.
“At one time we had a system through Webfood, when it wasn’t an app,” said Mary Schott, menu management coordinator at Iowa State. “This was successful but changed to GET to be more mobile friendly. We’ve had Webfood for awhile, but GET is much more functional for the students.”
Innovation has also been a main focus of GET, Patel said.
“We’re planning on implementing it at the HUB after renovations and Clyde’s after the renovation,” Patel said. “Some areas are still being talked about, but the plan right now is to expand the locations of where we can use the app.”
Adding on to Patel’s statement, Schott talked about future changes expected to happen with the GET app.
“Supposedly coming is GET rewards,” Schott said. “We’re still waiting for word on when and what it is, but we are excited for that to be used with our students and staff.”
In order to use the app, download it from the app store and set up an account with your student, faculty or staff information. Then you can order food for pick up from anywhere at any time. It is even possible for students and staff to order food a day before in case you don’t have time to wait for your food.
