Iowa State defeats Drake 4-3

The Iowa State Tennis team meets between double and single matches on April 23. Iowa State fell 0-4 to Oklahoma.

The Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Drake Bulldogs 4-3 this evening in Des Moines.

Iowa State played a very close game against the Drake Bulldogs. Every point was valuable during this evening’s match. 

Iowa State secured the doubles points, as the No. 2 and No. 3 Cyclone pairings both won their matches. 

Meanwhile in singles play No. 5 Margarita Timakova came back from a 2-6 deficit defeating Kenya Williams (DU) 6-2, 6-2 in the second and third sets. At the No. 6 position, Annabella Bonadonna dominated Mela Jaglarz (DU) 6-3, 6-2. No. 3 Ekaterina Repina also her won her match against Tess Herder (DU) 6-2, 6-2.

Singles:

No. 1: Maty Cancini was defeated by Summer Brills (DU) 2-6, 1-6.

No. 2: Regina Espindola was defeated by Liza Petushkova (DU) 6-7, 3-6, 5-6.

No. 3: Ekaterina Repina defeated Tess Herder (DU) 6-2, 6-2.

No. 4: Erin Freeman was defeated by Joely Lomas (DU) 2-6, 1-6.

No. 5: Margarita Timakova defeated Kenya Williams (DU) 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

No. 6: Annabella Bonadonna defeated Mela Jaglarz (DU) 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles:

No. 1: Cancini/Espindola were defeated by Herder/Petushkova (DU) 7-6 (7-5).

No. 2: Bonadonna/Freeman defeated Brills/Williams (DU) 6-4.

No. 3: Repina/Timakova defeated Lomas/Jaglarz (DU) 6-2.

The Iowa State Cyclones will take on the Kansas Jayhawks for another Big 12 matchup on April 6 at 3 p.m. in Ames. On April 8, the Iowa State Cyclones will host Kansas State at 10 a.m. It will be announced later next week if the matches will be played in Urbandale or Ames.
