Iowa State women’s track and field finish in fourth place in Big 12 Championship

The Iowa State women’s track and field finished fourth overall in the two-day Big 12 Championship. The team finished with 97 points.
The women’s 3,000-meter was packed with Cyclones. Karly Ackley finished third with a time of 9:31.82 and Kelly Naumann finished sixth with a time of 9:32.52. The team finished with Anne Frisbie, Amanda Vestri and Megan Schott rounding out the Cyclones.
Jhoanmy Luque defended her title for the Cyclones in the triple jump and swept the competition. Luque had the best three jumps for the competition. She went back-to-back for the season. Luque rounded out her senior year at the top of her indoor season.
Larkin Chapman led Iowa State to a one, two finish to claim the 1,000-meter run title in a time of 2:45.55, the second fastest time in Cyclone history. Erinn Stenman-Fahey was second in the race with a finish of 2:46.18.
The Cyclones tested other Big 12 opponents and tested the waters across the board. The team will get ready for the NCAA Championship in two weeks in Texas.
