Iowa State knew it was going to be a tough game with only seven players active against TCU. The Cyclones (13-14, 4-11 Big 12) took an early 47-41 lead at the half and wasn’t able to hold the lead against the Horned Frogs (19-9, 7-8 Big 12) with an 89-83 final score.

After the death of his father on Saturday, senior guard Donovan Jackson was back in Hilton Coliseum for the game. He left everything on the court with a 17-point performance in the first half and finished with 27 points along with three rebounds and four assists.

With Solomon Young, Nick Weiler-Babb and Hans Brase out of the lineup, Cameron Lard stepped up with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Jeff Beverly also did his part in the game with seven points in 31 minutes. Zoran Talley Jr. emerged in the second half and finished the game with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Horned Frogs kept their pace with the highest field goal and 3-point percentages in the Big 12 Conference. TCU finished with 57.9 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc.

That percentage was led by Desmond Bane and Alex Robinson for the Horned Frogs. Bane finished the game with 27 points, while Robinson had 18 points and six assists.

Iowa State will hit the road this weekend to take on No. 21 West Virginia in Morgantown, West Virginia, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. The Mountaineers are 20-8 overall and 9-6 in the Big 12.
