“Meet George Washington Carver” on Saturday
February 3, 2018
He was born a slave. He changed the world.
George Washington Carver is arguably the most notable alumnus from Iowa State. As the first black student and first black faculty member, Carver left a lasting legacy at Iowa State.
In celebration of Black History Month, Iowa State alumnus Paxton Williams will be portraying Carver at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. The performances are at the Reiman Ballroom in the ISU Alumni Center and will cost five dollars.
While many know Carver as the inventor of peanut butter, this is not the case.
He was a groundbreaking botanist whose work with inexpensive, nutritious crops changed the agricultural landscape in the United States.
