LAS Week kicks off Monday

The first ever LAS Week will begin Monday for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

There is an LAS Week Kickoff Breakfast to start off the weeks festivities in Troxel Hall from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.

A highlight of the events going on include a lecture Monday at 8 p.m. titled “The Art of Language Invention” by David Peterson, the creator of languages from Game of Thrones.

After Monday, each day is themed for one of the areas in the college and includes an event for that section of the college.

Monday:

  • LAS Week Kickoff Breakfast, Troxel Hall, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
  • Darwin Day Fossil Exhibit, Science 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Physical and Life Sciences Day: Networking Fair and Lunch with Alumni, Hach Hall, noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • “The Art of Language Invention” lecture by David Petersen, Great Hall, 8 p.m.

Tuesday: Math and Computational Sciences Day

  • Lunch with Faculty Panel, Campanile Room, noon
  • LAS Week Career Night: Reception, Professional Headshots and Seminars, Carver Hall, 5:15 p.m.

Wednesday: Communications Day

  • Snack and Learn Publications Panel, Catt Hall room 302, 2 p.m.
  • World Languages and Cultures: Research Bites, 2105 Pearson, 3:40 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • LAS Career Services: Interviewing Techniques—Speak for Yourself, Carver Hall, 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursday: Art and Humanities Day

  • Trivia Challenge, Carver Hall, Music Hall, Pearson Hall, Ross Hall, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Greenlee Jump-Start Internship and Networking Fair, Great Hall, noon to 4 p.m
  • Department of History visit day and poster displays, Ross Hall

Friday: Social Sciences Day

  • Sociology Pancake Breakfast, 311 East Hall, 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Booth-fest, Great Hall, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • ISU Symphonic Band Concert, Marth-Ellen Tye Recital Hall, Music Hall, 7:30 p.m.
