Iowa State headed into its Big 12 regular season finale with four road wins in Big 12 play. After the Cyclones knocked off the Jayhawks 65-56, they made it five road wins.

Tuesday’s win marked the first time since the 2013-14 season in which the Cyclones recorded more than three road wins. Coincidently, it was also five road wins.

Iowa State was led by senior Emily Durr, who dropped a career-high 27 points to go along with five assists. Durr started off hot in the first quarter with seven points to put the Cyclones up by one after the first quarter. Sophomore Adriana Camber tacked on six points.

After a mini run and stout defense by the Jayhawks, Iowa State found itself down 35-31 at half. Star junior Bridget Carleton tacked on seven points in the second quarter to keep the game within reach after the Cyclones shot just 5-for-15 from the field in the second quarter, and 13-for-31 from the field in the first half.

And just like they have the second half of the season, the Cyclones utilized a big third quarter to pull ahead of Kansas. The Cyclones held the Jayhawks to just seven points on 3-of-15 from the field in the third quarter. Of course, it also helped that Durr added nine more points to her total.

Ahead six points going into the final 10 minutes, Kansas was not going to go down without a fight. The Jayhawks got with as many as four with 1:44 left, but a Camber 3-pointer proved to be the dagger.

Carleton finished with 17 points and seven assists. The Cyclones’ Meredith Burkhall posted a team-high eight rebounds.

Next up, Iowa State will head to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to play in the Big 12 Championship this weekend. The Cyclones will open play on Friday at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
