Iowa State Softball changes course to Washington D.C.

Friday morning Iowa State softball announced it would withdraw from the Troy Cox Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. due to travel complications. 

Later Friday evening, Iowa State added four games in Washington D.C. against Quinnipiac, Howard and Coppin State.

Iowa State was scheduled to play five games over the weekend against New Mexico State, UT Arlington, Southeastern Louisiana, Northern Colorado and Nebraska. 

The 4-1 Cyclones are fresh off a tournament victory at the Doc Halverson UNI Dome Tournament.

A double header with Quinnipiac and Howard is slated for 8 a.m. and 11 a.m on Sunday. Monday, the Cyclones will have another double header with Howard and Coppin State beginning at 9 a.m.

Quinnipiac and Coppin State will play in its first games of the season this weekend. Howard has a 1-3 record. All three teams play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. 

The games will be held at Nationals Youth Academy, a baseball and softball facility created by the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball.
