Iowa State women’s track earns personal records at Razorback Invitational

The Iowa State women’s track and field team ran huge personal times this weekend at the Razorback Invitational that got them to 10th overall in the meet with a score of 36. The host school, Arkansas, won the meet with a score of 118.

The second day was full of great finishes starting with the 800-meter run. Jasmine Staebler had a big finish that crowned her second in the run with a 2:03.59. Erinn Stenman-Fahey ran a 2:06.33 for the Cyclones getting her sixth in the run which moved her to seventh in Iowa State history.

Larkin Chapman raced to first in the regular 800-meter in 2:06.18. Her team followed as Maggie Davis ran to a 22nd place finish with a time of 2:17.92 as her teammate Laurel Hoogensen finished two seconds behind her with a time of 2:19.91.

The women’s 3,000-meter invite was also strong for the Cyclones with Anne Frisbie leading the way with a second place finish with a time of of 9:23.45. Amanda Vestri was third with a time of 9:30.50.

The mile had a familiar face for the Cyclones with Evelyne Guay finishing fifth with a time of 4:46.72. The team fought hard in the meet and Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough had many strong words to describe her teams effort in the invitational.

“We had a great day and some really terrific performances,” Grove-McDonough said. “I can’t say we had a single bad performance today and that is something to be proud of.

“There were a lot of personal bests so you can’t ask for much more than that.”

The Cyclones head back to Ames before heading to the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska next weekend.
