The Iowa State men’s track and field team went to Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend and had a pretty successful meet.

Middle-distance events was the focus of this weekend for the Cyclones and the team had a couple first place finishes. In the one mile run, junior Dan Curts led the pack and finished first with a time of 4:03.49, with his teammate, junior Nathan Rodriguez finishing eight with his personal record of 4:08.97.

In the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Edwin Kurgat, who is running his first race of the year for the Cyclones, came up just short of first, losing by only .03 seconds with a time of 8:15.06 to Oklahoma State senior Hassan Abdi. Greyson Dolezal ran in a 3,000-meter run earlier in the day and finished third with a time of 8:21.54.

Similar to Kurgat, senior Jaymes Dennison ran a great race in the 800-meter run, but came up just .03 seconds short with a time of 1:49.98. He lost to sophomore Devin Dixon of Texas A&M. This was Dennison’s personal record for the indoor season.

Before the meet, coach Jeremy Sudbury talked about the importance of the meet and how the Cyclones were going to start to show what they were made of. The end of the indoor season is coming up fast and the Cyclones are trending in the right direction if they want to end successfully.
