Iowa State 141-pounder Ian Parker was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after going 2-0 over the weekend.

This was Parker’s first weekend wrestling at 141-pounds as the former 133-pounder moved up a weight class to fill in for the departed Kanen Storr.

Parker’s first match of the weekend was against Oklahoma’s Mike Longo on Friday. Parker won that match in a 4-2 decision, but Iowa State lost the dual 21-16.

On Sunday, Parker faced Dean Heil during Iowa State’s dual versus Oklahoma State. At the time, Heil was the No. 5 wrestler at 141-pounds according to Intermat. Heil is also a two-time national champion and was last year’s Big 12 Wrestler of the Year.

Parker was able to upset Heil winning a 3-1 decision as Iowa State fell to Oklahoma State 31-3.

After Parker’s productive weekend, he has bumped into the rankings at No. 18 at 141-pounds, per Intermat.
