Wisconsin defeats Iowa State, ending the Cyclones volleyball season

On Saturday, Iowa State needed to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers to move onto the Sweet 16.

The Cyclones failed to knock off the Badgers, losing 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23).

In the first set, the two teams played each other evenly. Tied at 5-5, Wisconsin’s size began to show. The Badgers rattled off five straight points to take a 10-5 lead.

Wisconsin built a 24-19 lead in the first set. The Cyclones fought back, scoring three straight points, but Wisconsin eventually snagged the set.

Wisconsin utilitized its momentum, jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the second set. The Badgers cruised to a 24-17 lead, but once again, Iowa State stormed back.

The Cyclones scored three straight points again to cut the score to 24-20. An Iowa State error gave the Badgers the second set.

In the third set, it appeared that Iowa State finally had its feet underneath itself. The Cyclones burst out to a 10-5 lead. Wisconsin rebounded, scoring 10 of the next 12 points, taking a 15-12 lead.

Once again, Wisconsin’s size prevailed, allowing the Badgers to win the third set and complete the sweep.
