Vagina Monologues Tryouts
November 13, 2017
If you missed the tryouts on Sunday, there is still time.
Walk-in auditions for “The Vagina Monologues” will be held Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The auditions are being hosted by the Margaret Sloss Women’s Center, Student Union Board and the Society for the Advancement of Gender Equity (SAGE).
“The Vagina Monologues” is a play by Eve Ensler, founder of V-Day, a nonprofit organization that works to stop violence against girls and women.
The play is based on Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women.
“With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength,” the Women’s Center website states.
The purpose of the monologues is to raise awareness about sexual assault and funds for local anti-violence organizations. Iowa State will be donating the funds to the Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support (ACCESS).
“If you live your life as a woman, you are welcome to audition,” the Women’s Center website states.
No acting experience is needed and auditions will take 5 to 10 minutes.
The remaining audition times are as follows:
5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the MU Room 3538.
10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Women’s Center.
The final performances will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 and Friday, Feb. 16.
