Faisal Niaz Tirmizi to speak at Iowa State on the War Against Terror

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi will be giving a lecture on “Pakistan’s Role in the War Against Terror.”

Tirmizi is the consul general of Pakistan in the Chicago consulate. This covers 12 states in the Midwest, including Iowa. He is a graduate of the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad; and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. 

Previously, Tirmizi served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as desk officer of the Middle East, Central Asia, Afghanistan and India. 

He has also served as the director of personnel and protocol in the Foreign Secretary’s Office and joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1993.
