The Iowa State Cyclones women’s golf team played in the UFC Challenge Sunday-Tuesday. The Cyclones had a 9th place finish out of 18 teams.
Staying hot
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn continues her hot fall season into the spring season with her best finish ever. Jeeravivitaporn broke Iowa State’s 54-hole scoring record as she finished tied for fourth and shot 9 under.
Jeeravivitaporn over the three days shot 67 (-5), 71 (-1) and 69 (-3). This tournament marked her third top 10 finish of the season. In total Jeeravivitaporn had 37 pars and 13 birdies.
Staying Consistent as a team
The field for the UCF Challenge consisted of 9 teams in the Golfstat top 50. In the fall season the cyclones best finish was 4th place. The rest were middle of the pack with 9th at Schooner Fall Classic, 10th Windy City Collegiate, 11th Stanford Intercollegiate.
In the UCF Challenge last year the Cyclones finished 9th. In 2019 finished 6th, 7th in 2018 and 6th in 2017.
Strong Finishes
Iowa State had a strong finish to the tournament as they moved from a one under 12th place to an 8 under top 10 finish.
Scores of 69 (-3) from Jeeravivitaporn, chou 71 (-1) and Rawof 68 (-4) helped propel the Cyclones to that top 10 finish.
