Iowa State played at Norman, Oklahoma on Wednesday, facing the Oklahoma Sooners.

After Iowa State won in four sets in its first match against Oklahoma, the Cyclones swept the Sooners this time (28-26, 25-18, 25-22).

When these two teams met in Ames, the Cyclones had a rough time in the first set, losing 31-29. On Wednesday, Iowa State failed to dominate the first set again, but the Cyclones were still able to snag the first set this time.

Junior hitter Jess Schaben feasted in the first set, carrying the Cyclones with nine kills. Tied at 26 late in the set, Iowa State also benefitted from Grace Lazard’s serving. Lazard sniped two aces in a row to grab the set.

In the second set, it became the Schaben and Alyssa Enneking show. Schaben didn’t skip a beat, tossing in six more kills. Enneking had five kills of her own in the second set.

In the third set, Schaben cooled off some, but her teammates contributed enough for the Cyclones to complete the sweep. Schaben finished the night with 18 kills and a .295 hitting percentage.
