Cyclone tennis finishes day two of Jon Messick Invitational

Then-sophomore Annabella Bonadonna played for Iowa State Tennis April 23, 2017. Bonadonna went 1-6 against Lena Ruppert of OSU. Iowa State fell 0-4 against Oklahoma.

Iowa State concluded the second day of the Jon Messick Invitational with a 4-3 singles record to go along with a 3-1 doubles record.

During singles play, Annabella Bonadonna beat Emma Corwin from Colorado State 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Karen Alvarez won 7-5, 6-3 versus Solene Crawley from Colorado State.

Barbora Kollarova from South Dakota defeated Erin Freeman 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

Ekaterina Repina beat Habiba Aly from South Dakota 6-1, 6-0.

Regina Espindola beat Magdalena Stencel from Wyoming 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Maty Cancini has yet to achieve a singles win at the Invitational after falling to Milka Genkova from Wyoming 6-3, 6-4.

Margarita Timakova lost her match against Sandra Keta of Colorado State 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Changes did occur during doubles play as Coach Armando Espinosa mixed up every doubles pair.

In the No. 1 slot, Cancini and Espindola paired up and lost to Palermo/Grijalva from Colorado State 6-3.

Repina/Timakova paired in the No. 2 spot. The two won 6-3 versus Luetschwager/Kolbow from Colorado State.

Alvarez paired with Keta from Colorado State in the No. 3 spot and won 6-2 against Aly/Wich from South Dakota.

Freeman/Bonadonna beat Nylund/Lazarevic from South Dakota 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.

Iowa State now has a singles record of 8-6 and a doubles record of 4-3 at the Invitational.

The Invitational will continue at 9 a.m. Sunday.
