Iowa State women’s golf advances to finals

The second day of the East and West match play in Madison, Wisconsin concluded today, and the Iowa State women’s team advanced to the finals with a 3-2 victory over Ohio State.
Senior Nattapan Siritrai got the Cyclones the first points of the afternoon with a 6-to-5 victory over Adeena Shears. Siritrai was six points up after 12 holes.
Senior Celia Barquin was four up after nine holes and clinched a 2-to-1 win over Rio Watanabe. Barquin was 3-under in the first nine holes to help her take a huge lead in the tournament.
Junior Chayanit Wangmahaporn clinched the Cyclone victory with a 2-to-1 win over Niki Schroeder. Wangmahaporn was behind in the early holes. Wangmahaporn won holes 10 and 12 to bump up two spots with only six holes left. Her par on hole 17 finished the match after Schroeder bogeyed.
The Cyclones will face off against the Wisconsin Badgers in the championship title match tomorrow. The Badgers defeated the Oregon Ducks, 4-1.
